Acoustic Measurements
SL: Since my designs do
not require acoustic measurements on part of the DIY builder, I will not
go into this subject. Meaningful acoustic measurements are difficult to
perform even with gating techniques. I do not measure the in-room
response. Since we hear both in frequency and time domains it is
exceedingly difficult to obtain meaningful information from such
measurements. I only use free-field acoustic measurements.
Fitz: I understand, though
it is hard to resist measuring the speaker's response at the listening
position.
SL: I marvel how the brain
deals with complex acoustic situations.
Just be sure to have studied Acoustics
and Hearing - 2.1.
